In September, the FYC Junior Fall Sailing kicks off! Please keep your
eyes peeled on the FYC’s website Fleet Page for dates and times. If
you or someone you know plans to sail this fall, please email me at
rweber@thefloridayachtclub.org. Sailing classes will be held on both
Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Along with being able to attend
these classes, Junior sailors will have the opportunity to participate
in a Saturday Sailing Series running the length of the September and
October months. Parents and sailors interested in attending a regatta
this fall should contact me soon in regards to what dates they are
available.

FYC’s Upcoming Cruises...
Labor Day is the perfect time to bring the boat out to the Club and
enjoy the new docks and festivities! Also, there will be a group of FYC
members traveling up to Fort George for the weekend and others just
for the day. Please Join In!
As we move into the fall, we look forward to the Blue Angels Air Show
being held over the river and NAS Jax on October 23rd and 24th. This
Club event is a great opportunity to come out to the Club, drop anchor
and join other members on the river near the base to watch the Air
Show. More details will follow in regards to boxed lunches! This will be
a lot of fun and very cool to watch!
Here comes Thanksgiving again! Enjoy the day with your family at the
Club or at your home but either way, the Club has a great buffet so
bring them over! Then cruise with us to the Fernandina City docks
either Thursday after the buffet or on Friday morning. Last year was
our first year at the Fernandina Harbor Marina and it was a HUGE hit
so book your room or boat slip early. Please call the Dockmaster
at (904) 491-2090 to make your slip reservations. They are FIRST
COME, FIRST SERVE and THEY BOOK QUICKLY so make your
reservations early! Also if you’re traveling by car and looking for a
hotel, there is a Hampton Inn located across the street from the Marina
and there are tons of Bed and Breakfast Inns to choose from. There
are a lot of activities in Fernandina during this weekend. On Saturday
night, the boaters lounge at the City Docks is booked for our Potluck
Dinner at 7:00 pm. Sunday morning will start with the “boaters on the
floaters” breakfast (so please bring something to share) and departure
will follow. We look forward to seeing you there! Scott Herbst Cruise Captain
Private Signal Flags
Now that we have identified all our flags, we want to show them off. If
you are interested in creating your own signal flag, we will be happy to
get you started. Applications need to be submitted to the Private Signal
Committee and approved by the Board of Governors before flags are
made. Call the Front Office for details (904) 387-1653.

Attention Boaters!!!
The U.S. Marine and Wildlife Division (Federal Government) has
placed manatee markers along the shoreline of the St. Johns River.
These markers have been placed 300 feet from land, and require "Slow"
or "No Wake" speed within the designated area. Please be aware of
these markers and use good judgment when approaching. These
markers officially end at the Ortega River Bridge. If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me at 387-9683 ext. 414.
