NOTICE OF RACE

1. RULES:
1.1The regatta will be governed by the 2009-2012 Racing Rules of Sailing, the current rules of the J-24 Class Association, this Notice of Race, and the Sailing Instructions. This regatta is classified ISAF advertising code Category C, Appendix 1.

1.2 All boats may be required to display bow numbers provided by the organizing authority.

2. ELIGIBILITY:
2.1 The regatta is open to all J/24 sailboats as defined by the IJCA. Competitors must meet all ownership and class
membership requirements and must complete all aspects of the registration process to become official participants. Registrants may be required to present a valid J/24 Class Measurement Certificate at registration in order to become official participants.

2.2 This is an advance registration event either by mail, fax or e-mail. The Florida Yacht Club must receive the entry form not later than Wednesday, November 15, 2011.  Payment may be made at registration, upon arrival to FYC. Entries received after this date will incur a late fee of ($25.00).  An entry form is available on the Fleet 55 web site at www.j24fleet55.com.

3. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2011
Practice Race - 1500
Registration (FYC Office) - 1300 - 1900
Annual Oyster Roast (Fleet Center) - 1900

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2011
Late registration (Fleet Center) - 0900 - 1000
Skipper’s Meeting (Fleet Center) - 1000
Start of Race #1 - 1130 (Up to 5 races can be sailed Saturday)
Dinner Buffet (FYC) - 1900

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2009
Start of Race #6 - 0930 (Up to 8 races total for the regatta. No race will be started after 1400)
Awards Party (Fleet Center) - ASAP (Complimentary Beer, Snacks)

5. INSPECTION:
All official participants are subject to inspection and measurement at any time during the regatta for rules compliance. No boat will be allowed to compete without fully completed and compliant Part D Class Measurement and Part C Inventory of Required & Optional Equipment forms.

6. FEES:
Regatta Entry (received by Nov. 15, 2011) - $225.00 - Includes 5 Dinner/Social Tickets
Regatta Entry (received after Nov. 15, 2011) - $250.00
Additional Social Wristbands - $45.00

7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:
The Sailing Instructions will be available at Registration/Check in.

8. COURSE:
The course will be windward/leeward as described in the sailing instructions.

9. SCORING:
9.1 The Low Point System will be used as defined in RRS Appendix A and as modified herein.

9.2 Eight (8) races are scheduled. A minimum of one completed race is required to constitute a regatta.

9.3 When five or fewer races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores. When six or more races have been sailed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

10. PENALTY SYSTEM:
The Scoring Penalty (RRS 44.3) shall apply.

11. PRIZES:
11.1 Prizes will be awarded to the top five finishers.

12. LODGING. A block of discounted rooms has been arranged at the brand new ORANGE PARK Holiday Inn - WELLS RD, 620 WELLS ROAD, ORANGE PARK, FL 32073
Reservations: 1-800-287-0037,or 904-562-7400 located in Orange Park on just off of U.S. 17 approximately 10 minutes South of FYC. This hotel is brand new. There are many other hotels in the Orange Park area if you need assistance, please contact us.
