June was a great month on the courts! Campers were out in full force,
both the ladies and the juniors. The first four weeks of junior camps had
an average of 50 children, who are all up and coming superstars! Our
junior campers include the five year old “quick start” beginner group up to
our nationally ranked juniors. June 12th –18th, we had nine juniors qualify
and compete in the state championships at the USTA Tennis Center in
Daytona. This tournament featured most all of the top juniors in Florida.
The highlight of the event was McKenzie Barco’s sixth place finish in the
girls 14 and under division. Congratulations to Mckenzie for an awesome
tournament!! The ladies evening camp in June was a big success. The
original date was completely rained out and we had to re-schedule it.
Approximately 24 ladies participated, enjoyed working on their games and
i mproving their skills. Thanks to all of you who participated.
The FYC Ladies Tennis Association (the LTA) and the 2010/2011 season
captains had a couple of very productive meetings in June. They have
put together tentative rosters and are very excited in the way the teams
have shaped up! The teams look strong, though we could always use
more players especially on our daytime teams. If you know of anyone
who may have an interest in playing, please pass their names along to
me so that we can invite them out. We are offering an incentive to players
who get new ladies to join a team. If you are interested in reading the
minutes from the LTA meeting you can do so on the FYC web site.
To kick off the ladies season, the LTA will be hosting an event for all
ladies on team rosters. The event will be held on Wednesday evening,
August 25th. Please mark your calendar and plan on attending to show
your FYC spirit and have some fun!
I would like to remind everyone that on August 14th, we will be hosting
a junior grand prix tournament. This will tie up all of our courts for the
majority of the day. If you would like us to book a court for you at one of
our neighboring facilities, please contact me and we will do our best.
See you on the courts!

Due to the increase in play on the courts, it is important the following rules apply:
1. You may reserve courts 48 hours in advance.
2. You may request a court, but may not necessarily get the court you requested. The tennis staff will do their best to honor your request, but may need to assign a different court according to maintenance, teaching schedules, team matches, and events.
3. Court reservations are for 1 1/2 hours. You may play longer if the court is not booked after you. The staff will do their best to make sure the courts are not booked on top of each other.
4. You must sign in at the pro shop before going on court. If you have a court reserved during a time when the pro shop is closed, the staff will let you know your court assignment and you can go straight to that court.
5. All guests must be signed in before they go on court!
