FYC150 Project

Project Vision

Through our efforts with Club Benchmarking (Financial Planning), Peacock & Lewis and ELM (Land Based Master Plan) and ATM (Sea Based Master Plan), we have been able to finalize a multiyear vision that will facilitate moving into our Sesquicentennial with new facilities. The Board of Governors believes this plan will guide us in the years to come and provide a clear vision for current and future Commodores and Boards to make decisions on how to implement improvements into the next decade.

Project Highlights Include:

• Improved arrival experience and new entry to the pool and fitness center.
• Improved fitness center (first phase) with new wellness & outdoor group fitness space. The fitness center will be larger, adding about 30% more space with more functionality and all-new equipment.
• New waterfront pool with fountains, interactive water features, shallow shelf, kids’ area and swim lane. Designed to support a multigenerational membership and promote social interaction. The new pool will gain about 30% more space for all to enjoy.
• New casual, family-friendly dining venue in existing Living Room.
• New casual kitchen in existing Commodore’s Room and ultra-casual bar in existing 1876 Room with strong connection to docks and pool.
• New outdoor bar adjacent to adult section of the pool with views of the marina basin and St. Johns River/downtown skyline.
• Redesigned and expanded pool restrooms.
• Renovated restrooms upstairs and a new bridal suite with a balcony overlooking the pool and river.
• Improved and modernized HVAC system, interior design and technology.

A Letter from Our Commodore

Published August 22, 2023

Q: How long will club members be without a swimming pool?
A: Demolition and construction will require the pool to be closed for the 2024 swim season. Construction has been intentionally sequenced to ensure that disruption is minimized to the extent possible, impacting just one season. Additional kids programming during this closure is being explored by the entertainment committee and staff.

Q: Will the club be without a working kitchen during construction?
A: No. The new casual kitchen will be constructed adjacent to the existing kitchen, allowing the current kitchen to continue to serve members and guests during construction. The Pirates Den, Pirates Den Bar and outside/riverfront dining will not be disrupted and will remain open during construction.

Q: Will the Astor Room upstairs be available for member parties and activities during construction?
A: Yes. The first phase of improvements does not impact the availability of Astor Room during construction period. There may be, from time to time, interruptions in access or use; but these will be anticipated in advance and communicated to members.

Q: How long will construction last?
A: The contractor has estimated construction to last about 16 months with an anticipated completion date in December 2024.

Q: When the new pool is done, will members be able to swim laps?
A: Yes, a swim lane has been designed as part of the new pool based on member feedback and requests.

Q: When will the pool be closed and will there be reciprocity?
A: Our pool is closed for construction. Timuquana Country Club has offered to our members the use of their pool facility through May 3, 2024 for enjoyment and lap swimming. They will reassess usage guidelines beyond May 3, 2024 at that time.

Q: When will the fitness center be closed and will there be reciprocity?
A: Our fitness center will remain open until further notice. Once permit is approved, we will close and Timuquana Country Club has offered reciprocity with details to follow at that time.
